'We met over a garden wall and have been together 65 years'
The secret to everlasting love is a hard one to crack, but couples in Lincoln who celebrate Valentine's Day have been explaining the key to their happiness.
Janet Rollinson, 88, met her husband, Nev, "over the garden wall" and the couple have just celebrated 65 years of marriage.
In a hazily dim-lit pub in Lincoln 31 years ago, Johann Bilton unknowingly stood inches from the man she would later marry.
She asked Iain Jubbs for a sip of his beer and the rest, as they say, is history. Mr Jubbs said: "She proposed to me with a Valentine's Day card."
For Jade Kenny, 27, her first date with partner Jack Theaker almost never happened, as she admitted she was nervous and "nearly didn't get on the train".
The pair met online in 2020 during the pandemic and, four years later, moved in together.
"I knew as soon as I saw her," Mr Theaker said.
