'She was always apologising', John Cleese pays tribute to co-star Prunella Scales
Fawlty Towers actor John Cleese, best known for playing hotel manager Basil Fawlty in the classic British sitcom, has paid tribute to his on-screen wife Prunella Scales on the BBC Breakfast sofa.
Cleese said Scales was "very nice and very English", before joking that she was always apologising for everything.
The actress died at her home in London at the age of 93, after being diagnosed with vascular dementia.
In a statement, her sons Samuel and Joseph said she was watching Fawlty Towers the day before she died.
