Escaped lab monkeys spotted in South Carolina woodland

Escaped lab monkeys were spotted in a wooded area in Yemassee, South Carolina. The 43 Rhesus Macaques escaped Alpha Genesis lab on Wednesday.

Some were spotted on Friday in a woodland near the facility. Local police are asking area residents to lock their doors and windows, even though there is no threat to the public.

All of the escapees are females and carry no contagious viruses because they were too young to test, according to the lab.

Typically, the research centre is home to 7,000 of the primates.
