CCTV appeal after trailer with 18 kayaks set alight

Police have released a video that shows the moment 18 kayaks on a trailer were set alight as officers continue to appeal for information.

The trailer was lit on fire outside of a house in The Arches, East Leake, Nottinghamshire, at 00:17 GMT on 30 March, police said.

The fire spread through the kayaks, damaged the front of the property, wrote off two cars parked outside and damaged neighbours' vehicles.

Nottinghamshire Police, which released the video on Wednesday, believe the culprit is someone "who lives in the area or knows the area very well".

The force said Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out an investigation, which revealed an accelerant was used to start the fire.

The CCTV footage shows a lone person starting the fire, and detectives believe they may have suffered burns.

"From our inquiries, we believe the offender is someone who either lives in the area or knows the area very well," Det Con Annabel Walker said.

"It's really important we find them so we are again appealing for the public's help."
