Cyclist crash dashcam footage released by police

Dashcam footage of two cyclists being hit by a careless driver has been released by police.

Thames Valley Police said it should act as a warning to motorists to be more aware of vulnerable road users.

The incident happened on 2 June 2023 at a roundabout on the A4 Bath Road towards Reading, Berkshire.

The cyclists, both women in their 40s and 50s, sustained life-changing injuries.

Zahin Ali, 20, from Maidenhead, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by careless driving and was sentenced on Monday to 10 months in prison and banned from driving for two years.

Sgt Matthew Cadmore said: “The victims’ lives and those of their families have been tipped upside down due to Zahin Ali deciding to drive so carelessly.

“Everyone has the right to travel on the road safely, whether by car, motorcycle, pedal cycle, horse or on foot."
