University fees are rising - what do young people think?

Tuition fees for university students in Wales and England have risen to £9,535 per year, a £285 increase.

Maintenance loans have also increased, allowing students to borrow more for living costs.

This marks the second fee rise in Wales within a year, following a jump from £9,000 to £9,250 in September 2024.

When Wales announced the increase last December, Minister for Further and Higher Education Vikki Howells described it as a "difficult but necessary" decision.

BBC journalist Eleri Griffiths has been speaking to young people in Merthyr Tydfil to hear their views on whether university is still worth it.
