Pod of dolphins keep sailor company on boat trip

A sailor who spotted a pod of about 25 dolphins near an island said he had never seen anything like it in 50 years of sailing.

Terry Fitzpatrick said he was sailing with friends when the dolphins appeared within 2ft (0.6m) of the boat and swam alongside them for 10 minutes off the coast of Roa Island, near Barrow, Cumbria.

He said they were "sailing along with us, jumping out of the water".
