Agony of period pain left woman in hospital

Emily Handstock has struggled with debilitating period pain for 10 years and feels society had "normalised" what she is going through.

The 25-year-old said people struggled to believe her, even though morphine "barely touched the sides" in relieving her pain when she was admitted to hospital.

It follows a Westminster report by MPs which stated that "medical misogyny" was leaving women in pain for years and disrupted all aspects of daily life.

Emily has documented her struggles on TikTok and wants other women and girls to take part in research which could help improve their lives in the future.
