I'm nearly 30 and never voted in a general election
"Imagine being in the last few months of your 20s, and realising 'oh, I've never actually voted'."
That's the reality for BBC Wales' Tink Llewellyn, who has had the right to vote for more than a decade - but has never used it.
Tink, who has created a series of videos in the run-up to the election looking at which issues matter to people, has never been to a polling station and had her say.
But why?
"Well, in school it just wasn't something we learnt about and at home we didn't really talk about it.
"So where do you even start when it comes to teaching yourself about politics?"
Tink, who dropped out of college and describes herself at that stage in her life as "a pregnant teenager living off benefits", did not see how the world of politics could relate to her own life.
"So why would I want to engage with people totally out of my world, my class, and would they even listen to silly, old me?
"Fast forward 10 years, I've completely changed my life around to become a BBC journalist.
"I now know how important it is to vote and make a difference to things that matter to me.
"Just because you think you don’t fit the ‘voting standards’ or you think nothing applies to you, I promise it does in one way or another.
"It’s probably not something you talk about with your mates either, but remember you’re the future generation."
Tink's advice?
Yes, it can all be confusing, and there is a lot of information to get your head around, but the BBC can help.
So why not start off with some basics so you get to know the different parties and terms...
