Boy given 'last chance' life support learns to walk

A three-year-old boy who was left fighting for his life due to a rare combination of common childhood illnesses is learning to walk again.

In June, Freddie’s heart started shutting down and he deteriorated quickly.

But the final option - a life-support machine which re-oxygenated his blood and gave his heart a rest - worked, and his mum says he’s “putting one foot in front of the other” once more.
