George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin marry in Venice

Hollywood superstar George Clooney has married British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice.

The couple were out and about enjoying the Venice sunshine on river boat on Sunday following their wedding on Saturday

They spent much of the time hand-in-hand, clearly sporting their new wedding rings

Amal Alamuddin had been keeping a low profile pre-nuptials but now married she once again braved the limelight and the intense media interest

On Saturday before the ceremony Clooney appeared to be in a buoyant mood, happy to smile for onlookers. The only public statement the actor made about the nuptials was via his agent in a one-line confirmation he had wed. A civil ceremony is expected to take place on Monday

No stranger to celebrity photographs, US Vogue editor Anna Wintour also made her way to the party by speed boat

He was flanked on the boat by father of the bride Ramzi Alamuddin and joined by his parents Nick Clooney and Nina Bruce

The celebrations were held at the luxury Aman hotel where a suite can cost more than £3,000 a night
