Asia Beats: Le Cat Trong Ly, Vietnam

Le Cat Trong Ly left her classical music studies to follow her passion for singing and song-writing.

She initially played viola, but now prefers to accompany herself on guitar and her simple, from-the-heart, style is much loved in Vietnam.

Though she is from Danang, in central Vietnam, she is strongly influenced by folk songs from the north of the country.

She made her breakthrough in 2008 when she won the Young Composer and Song of the Year Awards at the Vietnamese national contest.

Her first album entitled Le Cat Trong Ly was launched in 2011.
