The city of Christchurch in New Zealand is on high alert after shootings at two mosques killed at least 49 people.

Another 20 people were wounded.

A man in his late twenties has been charged with murder, according to police.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has described the alleged gunman, who had Australian citizenship, as an "extremist, right-wing" terrorist.
