Star India will have the rights to all international cricket matches India plays at home

The Rupert Murdoch-owned Star India has won broadcast and digital rights for India's cricket matches at home for the next six years.

The deal is worth 3.85bn rupees ($756m; £473m) and will cover 96 international matches and some domestic events. Star beat Sony, which had bid 3.7bn rupees.

A Star India official said they would collaborate with ESPN-Star Sports.

In December, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) terminated a broadcast deal with Nimbus.

BCCI officials said the contract was terminated because Nimbus had not paid the 50% advance for the recent England and West Indies series.

The deal with Star also includes internet and mobile rights.

BCCI president N Srinivasan said they would earn 404m rupees from each match.

Under the previous arrangement with Nimbus, BCCI received 323m rupees per match.

The ESPN-Star combine already has the rights to all ICC events and also the rights of domestic cricket in England and Australia.

Sony owns the media rights to IPL (Indian Premier League) matches.
