'The system preferred to blame me' - Kathleen Folbigg

A woman once branded “Australia’s worst mother” has had convictions for killing her four children quashed.

Kathleen Folbigg spent 20 years in jail before an inquiry involving new scientific evidence led her to be pardoned in June this year.

On Thursday, the New South Wales Supreme Court overturned her conviction, ruling that the evidence in the case had not been reliable.

Folbigg told reporters she was “grateful” and said that “society needs to think before they blame a parent of hurting their children".
