Channel Islands' Anglican churches pay Parish Shares to Canterbury

Channel Island Anglican Churches are to pay their Parish Share to the Diocese of Canterbury, island deans say.

The islands split from the Diocese of Winchester in January after a dispute over how abuse complaints were handled.

They had been still paying their shares to Winchester, despite being overseen by Canterbury after the split.

The deans said the Bishop of Dover had agreed to shares being collected individually in each island and then sent on to Canterbury.

The Church of England in the Channel Islands pays hundreds of thousands of pounds each year to the overseeing diocese, which is then used to pay clergy, training and other costs.
