County Louth: Man appears in court charged with Dundalk murder

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman who was stabbed to death in County Louth.

Ingrida Maciokaite, 31, who was originally from Lithuania, died after she was stabbed outside an apartment on Linenhall Street in Dundalk.

The incident happened at about 14:45 local time on Tuesday.

Edmundas Dauksa of Castleross, Castletown Road, Dundalk was remanded in custody.

On Thursday, the court heard Mr Dauska was a shell fisherman who was originally from Lithuania.

An interpreter was made available to him in court.

The judge recommended he receive medical care in custody.

He will appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.
