Dublin shooting: Man shot dead in his front garden

A 22-year-old man has died after being shot outside his Dublin home on Sunday.

Eoin Boylan was in his front garden in Clonshaugh Avenue when several shots were fired. He was hit six times in the upper body, arm and chest.

It is understood the shooting took place at about 17.15 local time. The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim was known to Irish police and it is suspected the attack is related to a feud in the Coolock area.

Eoin Boylan is the fifth man to be murdered in a gang feud in the north Dublin district of Coolock.

The first killing was in January with three more in May.

Four of the five victims have been young men in their early twenties; the one exception was a 41-year-old associate of one of the gangs, an Iranian-born suspected hitman.

Because of their wealthy life-styles with no obvious means of funding, they have become known in some circles as the Gucci Gang.

The feud is mainly over control of the drugs market in their area and over drugs debts.

The Hutch-Kinahan on going gangland feud, which has claimed at least 18 lives over the last four years, means there are fresh opportunities for those - whether they are in Coolock, west Dublin or Drogheda - who wish to fill the vacuum caused by that bitter dispute.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan said he was "deeply concerned".

"I condemn this wanton violence," he said.

"I urge anyone with information to please contact An Garda Síochána and assist them with their investigation."
