Coronavirus: Dutch drinkers party before new Covid rules kick in

A four-week partial lockdown has begun in the Netherlands shutting bars, restaurants, terraces and cannabis cafes.

A bar in The Hague, just metres away from parliament, drew large crowds just before the restrictions came into force.

Police were nearby and when the owner failed to respond to their phone call to turn the music down, a team of enforcement officers went in just before closing time.

The mayor of the city is now investigating the "Party on het Plein" (party on the square) and investigating whether to take action against those violating social distancing rules.
