Guernsey stocks of unsalted butter run out

Unsalted butter has been out of stock for two weeks

Unsalted Guernsey butter will be back in island shops after it has been out of stock for two weeks, Guernsey Dairy has said.

A batch of butter failed laboratory tests two weeks ago which meant demand outstripped supply and it ran out.

One-and-a-half tonnes of unsalted butter was made on Monday and is undergoing laboratory tests to check it meets required standards.

The dairy said it hoped it would be in shops within the next few days.

The failure of the tests coincided with a promotion with Waitrose stores in the UK and a local promotion aimed at reducing stock as much as possible as a new cold store floor was being laid at the Dairy.

Salted butter stocks have been unaffected.
