Vehicle numbers in Guernsey continue to rise

  • Published

The number of vehicles in Guernsey increased by more than 2,000 in 2009, according to figures released by the States.

Last year there were more than 86,000 vehicles registered, with more than 60,000 of those being private cars.

Francis Paul, Guernsey Bicycle Group chairman, said it showed efforts to reduce car usage were not working.

"We continue to be disappointed by the increase in the number of privately-owned cars in Guernsey," he said.
