Final demolition of Grand Bouet Estate

The demolition of the last part of Guernsey's Grand Bouet Estate has begun.
Work on the housing estate began in June 2009 with a total of 148 properties being demolished to make way for new social housing.
The last residents of the estate were moved out at the end of May 2010, to make way for the final stage.
The site is being redeveloped on behalf of the States by the Guernsey Housing Association.
Housing Minister Dave Jones said: "Ten years ago when I joined housing this estate stood as a monument to all the failures there'd ever been in social housing."
He said the new estate would follow the pattern of other social housing in the island: "They're more small closes than they are long rambling estates.
"It will bear no resemble to this barrack style buildings that are being torn down."
