Supermarket chain Waitrose has announced that it is to create 100 new jobs in Guernsey.
Waitrose, the food arm of the John Lewis Partnership, is buying the Safeway store on the Rohais and the Checkers store at Admiral Park.
Waitrose said the new jobs were in addition to those held by current employees of Checkers and Safeway.
The shops, which cover 130,000 sq ft, will open as Waitrose in a phased programme in early 2011.
The company has also bought three shops in Jersey.
