Guernsey's recycling rate passes 50% target
- Published
More than half of Guernsey's household rubbish was recycled during the three months from July to September, according to States figures.
It was the first time the island exceeded the 50% target for recycling set for 2010 by the States in 2007.
Public Services Deputy Minister Scott Ogier said: "It's an achievement recyclers should be proud of.
"Thousands of tonnes of material that would otherwise have gone into Mont Cuet [landfill] are being reused."
Due to this result the estimated figure for recycling in 2010 was revised from 44.4% to 46.4%.
