Guernsey States agree child welfare plan

The States of Guernsey has agreed a strategy aimed at providing services to ensure the welfare of children in Guernsey and Alderney.

The Children and Young People's Plan, agreed on Thursday, runs from 2011-2013 across States departments and agencies.

Health and Social Services Minister Hunter Adam said it was a step in the right direction.

He said: "You might say this is a first attempt, it may not be perfect, but it's a huge distance down the road."

The strategy was one of the requirements set out in the Children's Law, which was approved in January 2008.
