Guernsey fire service wants more retained firefighters

Guernsey's Fire and Rescue Service has launched a campaign to recruit more retained firefighters.

Andy Mauger, community fire safety manager, said those who apply must be committed.

He said: "What we need is commitment really, we need them to be able to come in on Wednesday evenings and train.

"We also need them to be available to leave their full-time employment or whatever they do if their alerter goes off."

Mr Mauger said when called out "we will need them either at the incident we're attending or back up for the second call on station".
