The proportion of young people in Guernsey staying in education post-16 is at its highest ever level.

The Education Department revealed 79% of students in the post-16 age group stayed in full-time education in 2010.

That was a rise of 4% on the previous year and 10% more than five years before.

Alun Williams, lifelong learning manager, said the number of school leavers in workplace training was also at its highest level.
