Guernsey police called to jail over inmate

An investigation is to be carried out after police were called to Guernsey Prison to help staff deal with an inmate that was out of control.

Officers said they were called to the facility on Friday afternoon.

Roof tiles had been broken in a cell, which was also damaged by water.

The Home Department said the circumstances surrounding the incident would be looked into. Police and prison officials declined to give any further details.
