The offer of resignation by four of the members of Guernsey's Education Department will be debated by the States on Tuesday.
Minister Carol Steere, Deputy Minister Tony Spruce and Deputies Matt Fallaize and Mike Collins made the offer after a fall in GCSE results.
The States will decide whether or not to accept their resignations.
Deputy Steere said she made the offer to seek the confidence of the States to continue on in the role.
In her resignation letter she said she intended to explain her position to the States during debate.
In his letter Deputy Spruce said he fully supported calls for a review of education services.
While Deputy Matt Fallaize urged his fellow deputies to accept his resignation to force an election and "afford the States a proper opportunity to determine the appropriate membership of the Education Department".
Deputy David De Lisle was the only member of the department who has not offered his resignation.
