Guernsey States savings call is withdrawn

  • Published

A move asking the States of Guernsey to save £1.8m found from efficiency savings rather than funding new projects has been withdrawn.

Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher, who seconded Deputy Martin Storey's motion, said it was clear they did not have support from a majority of the assembly.

He said it followed the Treasury and Resources Minister Charles Parkinson suggesting it would not be discussed.

Motions have to have the support of at least seven deputies to be debated.

The States Strategic Plan, which includes proposals for the funding of nine new projects, is due to be debated on Tuesday after the resignations of the Education Department.
