Permission has been given for a multimillion-pound development on the site of a former Guernsey brewery.

The owners of the Vauxlaurens site on St Julian's Avenue in St Peter Port first submitted plans for a £10m development in 2010.

The Environment Department approved the plans for 32 residential units, a gym and underground parking.

The proposals included the retention of the main building, which dates back to 1873.

Brewing on the site ended in 2008 when Randalls Brewery moved to St George's Esplanade.
