A landslip has caused the closure of the cliff path between Clarence Battery and Fort George in Guernsey.

The Environment Department has closed off the area and advised members of the public to stay away as clay and heavy rain have made the path slippery.

It has put up diversion signs for an alternative route for walkers via Belvedere.

The department said it anticipated the cliff path would reopen some time next week.
