Warm water fears for Guernsey's bass fishing fleet

Higher than average sea temperatures have caused concern for Guernsey's bass fishing fleet.

The temperature for 10 November 2011 stood at 15.5C, a degree and a half higher than the 30-year average of 14C recorded by Seafisheries.

The President of the Guernsey Fishermen's Association, Dougal Lane, said the warmer waters were keeping bass away from the Bailiwick.

He said local fishermen could miss the lucrative Christmas market as a result.
