Kenneth Branagh has been in Guernsey looking at potential locations for the film adaption of the novel the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

The well-known actor and film director visited the island last week.

Jason Moriarty, director of marketing and tourism, said they were hoping a decision on filming in the island would be made in the "near future".

He said: "It comes down to issues such as logistics and cost and whether the locations are good creatively."

Mr Moriarty said: "[Mr Branagh] very much liked the island and he knows the island, as do the other members of the team.

"We've been asked to keep the details confidential, but it is good news and we're in contact on a regular basis.

"For the community, for Guernsey tourism and for the islands in general it would be absolutely fantastic if we could secure some location filming here."
