Talks over the contract to run Guernsey's buses are "very positive", according to the Environment Department.

It is in talks with preferred bidder, the HCT Group, but admitted the "process is taking longer than originally intended".

The contract was put out to tender after Island Coachways pulled out of renewal negotiations.

The Environment Department said it was still confident of finalising the deal.
