Guernsey's Petit Port bay to be closed for maintenance
- Published
The steps down to Guernsey's Petit Port Bay will be out of bounds to the public later this month.
Annual maintenance work is to be carried out between 19 and 30 March, along with a geological inspection of the cliff face and slipway repairs.
Access to the beach will still be possible by private boat while the work is carried out.
Petit Port was closed between 2001 and 2005 after a series of landslides made the area too dangerous to access.
New concrete steps were built, in addition to new handrails and fencing to catch rockfalls.
The Environment Department has apologised to islanders for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
