A public consultation will consider the possibility of "a lot more collaboration" between the fire services

An amalgamation of Guernsey's two fire services is being considered, as part of an efficiency drive.

The island's airport firefighters are overseen by Public Services, while the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service is overseen by the Home Department.

Jon Le Page, the island's chief fire officer, said: "I'm sure there's going to be a lot more collaboration. That is hot on the agenda."

The Home Department has commissioned a public consultation on the issue.
