Inmates could share cells in 'full' Guernsey Prison

Inmates at Guernsey Prison could be forced to share cells if it reaches its full capacity, the acting governor has said.

David Matthews said installing bunk beds to some cells at Les Nicolles would be the sensible option.

In 2012, the average number of prisoners has been 117 and the building can currently hold 120 people.

Mr Matthews said: "Some cells are designed for two people where others are single cells with bunk beds."
