Guernsey's St Sampson's harbour will close to shipping to allow the delivery of a huge oil-fired electricity generator.

Captain Peter Gill, harbour master, said it would be "one of most complex unloading procedures" ever carried out in the harbour.

He said it would "block up most of the harbour" and was expected to take placed on 29 August.

Guernsey Electricity has ordered the £14m 300-tonne generator.
