Guernsey's Chief Officer of Culture and Leisure will retire and take up a post in the voluntary sector.

Dave Chilton, 60, is to retire after 24 years of public service and take up the role of chief executive officer of the Guernsey Community Foundation.

He said: "I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to work in this area."

A spokesman for the States of Guernsey said Mr Chilton's replacement would be announced at a later date.

The Guernsey Community Foundation was formed in 2010 to "promote effective philanthropy" in the island.

Mr Chilton added: "This is undoubtedly an exciting time for the [Guernsey Community] Foundation and the opportunity to join such a forward thinking organisation, working within the voluntary sector, was one that was impossible to resist."
