Sark alcohol laws to be voted on
- Published
Sark's politicians are being asked to introduce laws regulating the production of alcohol on the island.
The proposals from the General Purposes and Advisory Committee would raise revenue and ensure alcohol produced was not dangerous.
Committee chairman Charles Maitland said although there was not much produced at the moment there was the possibility of more in the future.
He said bringing in the controls was part of being a responsible government.
Conseiller Maitland said: "There are small producers of for instance cider, but at the moment we don't have a wine industry on Sark, although that may happen in the future."
Sark Estate Management hopes to produce bottles of wine by 2014, having planted vines in Sark and Brecqhou.
