Guernsey bus operator adds west coast route to timetable

A bus route serving Guernsey's west coast has been included in the summer timetable after feedback from the public on planned changes.

The bus operator CT Plus has reduced the number of routes from 20 to 11 in an attempt to "make it simpler to use".

A specific route for tourists called the Guernsey Vaeux (view) has been introduced and will operate at least four times a day.

The summer schedule from 12 May also includes trialling late night services.

Two-tier system

These services running to and from St Peter Port to the Bridge, Cobo and St Martin until 02:00 BST will be a standard £2 for all users.

For all other services there will be a two-tier system, one for locals and another for tourists at £1 and £2 for a single journey respectively.

Locals need to show ID to qualify for the reduced rate and ormer cards, smartcards that allow users to pay as little as 60p for a journey, will continue to be available.

The company has also decided to introduce travel and family passes, which are primarily aimed at tourists and could allow people to pay less than 60p a journey.

The full details of the new timetable are due to be released on the Guernsey bus service, external website on Tuesday and a mail drop will be made to every island household.
