Guernsey donates £25,000 to Syria appeal

An extra £25,000 will be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) Syrian Appeal by Guernsey's Overseas Aid Commission.
It follows reports from the UN that more than a million Syrian children have fled the country's civil conflict.
Secretary to the commission, Liz Dene, said the changing situation in Syria prompted it to take action.
This is the third £25,000 donation. The first was in January to UNICEF and again in March to the DEC appeal.
Mr Tim Peet, commission vice chairman, said members of the group were affected by pictures on the news.
He said: "Many of the pictures are heartbreaking to watch and in making this further contribution to the DEC appeal we are confident that it will make a small but important difference in relieving the suffering of the innocent victims of the conflict, many of whom are children."
