Guernsey survey shows support for greenhouse development

  • Published

There is support for using derelict greenhouses in Guernsey for housing developments and commercial buildings, a survey has found.

About 600 people responded to the survey by the Environment Department into managing future development.

Claire Barrett from the department said about 250 vinery sites have been identified that could be used for something else.

The survey results will be used when the island development plan is written.

The survey also found there was support for housing at Cobo, St Martins, L'Islet and Capelles.

A draft version of the island development plan will be submitted to the States next spring, with a public inquiry scheduled for autumn, and the finished article due back before the Assembly 2015.
