Guernsey's general election will be shifted back a week next year to avoid clashing with the Easter school holidays.

Deputies backed Mark Dorey's amendment to move the date from 20 April to 27 April so more people are able to vote.

He said allowing time for people to get back from their holidays would increase the chances of a higher turnout.
