The wife of late Air Marshal Peter Walker has thanked islanders for all their support since his death.

The serving Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey died of a heart attack on 6 September and a service of Thanksgiving and Farewell was held on Tuesday.

His funeral will be held at a RAF church in London next Tuesday.

Lynda Walker said: "I want to thank everyone who has sent their love and condolences to me and my children over the past 10 days or so."

"We listened to many broadcasts and have read all your cards, messages, letters and emails. We have been deeply moved by your kind words," she said.

"Peter and I have enjoyed every minute of the past four and a half years living and working here in the Bailiwick. It has been an honour and a privilege.

"Even though our time here has ended in such a very sad way, the islands and their people will always have a very special place in my heart."
