The ropes on the climbing equipment had started to wear out
A climbing frame has been removed from a Guernsey park due to safety concerns.
The States said rope on the spider web frame at Saumarez Park had been worn down in places.
This had exposed some of the metal core and sharp edges so the decision was taken it was no longer safe to play on, it added.
Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management services, which maintains the playground, is now discussing whether it can be replaced.
The playground was originally built in 1971 and the equipment has been upgraded several times since.
In 2014 it closed for a major refit, but the spider web apparatus was not replaced then.

Talks are taking place to look at what the replacement options are
The States said there are plans to upgrade the area, with the funding coming from a charitable donation, but work has not progressed.
A spokesperson said talks were now taking place between the relevant parties "to source a safe replacement for the much-enjoyed spider's web".
