Toys, clothes and toiletries will be sent to youngsters displaced by war

Rotary Guernesiais has launched its Christmas Shoebox Appeal to help children displaced by the Ukraine and Russia war.

For more than 20 years, islanders have been packing shoeboxes with toys, clothes and toiletries for youngsters.

Last year 4,134 shoeboxes were sent to countries including Montenegro, Romania, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine.

This year, the charity is aiming even higher and specifically helping Ukrainian children.

Islanders can drop off shoeboxes at the Rotary Shoebox HQ, at the former Braye Lodge Hotel on Ruette Braye in St Peter Port until 4 November.
