Taxi fares will immediately rise by 7.67% in Guernsey, the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure has said.

The committee said the increase reflected inflation between June 2022 and June 2023.

It added it had only received two comments during its two-week consultation period after announcing the proposals.

It said the increase was supported by the Guernsey Taxi Drivers Association.

The committee said the increase meant a two-mile journey during normal daytime hours would increase by 60p, from £8.10 to £8.70.

Meanwhile, a five-mile journey in evening hours will increase by £1.80, from £21.30 to £23.10.
