Safety Net says it wants bar staff to feel supported

Staff in Guernsey's pubs and clubs should not feel worried about reporting suspicious behaviour they see while at work, said the charity Safety Net.

The group met with hotel workers during a training session for those working in the night-time economy.

The charity wants to raise awareness of, and prevent, sexual assault, harassment, and drink spiking in Guernsey.

Simon Allen from Safety Net said he wants to show staff they are supported.

"We want to give staff a bit of security that if they make a complaint about somebody's behaviour that they're not going to be pulled up for it.

"Customers have a responsibility to behave appropriately on licensed premises.

"So it's just to make sure staff realise they are safeguarded by people like us who will support them during their evening's work," said Mr Allen.
